Yielden Gun Club – Probably Our Favourite Clay Pigeon Shooting Ground
The Crafty Rabbit spent another lovely morning at YGC. Just spending some time sitting outside the clubhouse with a bacon sandwich and a cup of tea is the worth the visit alone!
The rural setting sitting outside the large club house is so peaceful and tranquil (if you don’t count the sound of shotguns being fired in the background) … We like the sound of shotguns being fired in the distance.
Paul is the most friendly of hosts and you are always made to feel so incredibly welcome.
There is a good array of stands and traps catering for all abilities from skeet to rabbit, The crafty Rabbit must have a subconscious reflex to shooting the rabbit as he never hit one. However he faired his usual average to middling on the rest of the traps, especially the simulated sporting targets through the woods and not a bad showing on the always challenging skeet.
This has to be our favourite ground to while away a few hours spent in the company of friendly people in a beautiful rural setting and you also get to bust a few clays!
If you are in the Northamptonshire / Bedfordshire area then you have to pay a visit and support the little family run venues that really need your support in order to keep up the warm, wonderful experience that they can offer that “big guns” can’t
Just off the A6 on the Beds Northants border not far from Sporting Targets in Risely – which although we think is a great ground it is a different beast from the little intimate family atmosphere of Yielden Gun Club.
